Lehigh Valley Phantoms Release 30th Anniversary Collection
LEHIGH VALLEY, PENNSYLVANIA — Official League has released a throwback collection celebrating 30 years of Phantoms hockey and a look fans have been asking to see again. The original purple and orange return across five pieces, revisiting one of the AHL’s most iconic identities and the Philadelphia era that made it a favorite.
When the Philadelphia Phantoms began play in 1996, their identity had all the confidence of the decade: bold colors, exaggerated lettering and a name that invited a little theater. Purple gave the club a personality of its own alongside the orange of its NHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Flyers. It was an unmistakable look for a new team sharing South Broad Street with an established hockey institution.
The Phantoms gave fans plenty of reasons to remember those colors. Calder Cup championships in 1998 and 2005 helped define their Philadelphia years, before the franchise moved to Adirondack and later to the Lehigh Valley in 2014. Across those changes, the original look remained a reference point for supporters. The calls to bring it back speak to how closely a team’s early identity can become tied to the experience of following it.

That attachment is at the heart of this collection. For longtime fans, the purple and orange belong to a particular chapter of Phantoms hockey, with its own players, games and memories. For those who discovered the team in the Lehigh Valley, they offer a connection to the years before it arrived. Bringing the colors back gives both groups a way to share in that history.
The appeal also lives in the design itself. The original Phantoms lettering has a playful, slightly menacing character that feels entirely at home in ’90s hockey. Paired with purple and orange, it has the kind of immediate recognition that teams spend decades building. Thirty years later, those choices still give the Phantoms a look worth returning to.

Official League made that identity the focus across headwear, denim, fleece and a tee. The familiar lettering appears at different scales, while the original colors carry the collection from one piece to the next. Varsity striping and broad blocks of color suit the era without competing with the graphics fans wanted back.
The result gives the throwback look a place beyond a jersey or an anniversary night. A wool hat, a crewneck or a denim jacket can become part of what someone wears throughout the season, keeping that early Phantoms identity visible around the arena and away from it. The collection makes room for fans to wear their connection to the team in their own way.

At 30 years, the Phantoms have a history that stretches across three homes and generations of supporters. The enthusiasm for these original colors is part of that history, too. Official League’s anniversary collection brings a fan favorite back into circulation, with the purple, orange and unmistakable Phantoms lettering at its center.
The collection debuted on Thursday, October 22, to an enthusiastic response from fans. Comments such as “Absolutely nailed it” and “I needddd it!” captured the excitement around seeing the original look return, while the hoodie and tee drew praise of their own.

Premier Members received early access ahead of the full public release on Saturday, October 24, at 11 a.m.
