Long before Colorado welcomed a major league team, Denver fans filled the stands for the Bears. One of the club’s defining chapters came in 1980, when its Triple-A American Association roster included Tim Raines, Tim Wallach, and Randy Bass. The team finished with 92 wins and drew more than 565,000 fans.
That season, Raines stole 77 bases and the Bears won 21 consecutive home games at Mile High Stadium. The team’s story belongs to the years when Denver was already a serious baseball city, with its own stars, rivalries, and reasons to come to the ballpark.
