The city’s club before the Giants

The Seals were charter members of the Pacific Coast League in 1903. Before the Giants arrived in 1958, they were San Francisco’s professional baseball club, drawing local supporters first to Recreation Park and later to Seals Stadium.

Joe, Vince, and Dom DiMaggio were among the homegrown talents who wore the uniform. San Francisco native Lefty O’Doul managed the Seals from 1935 through 1951, helping define the club’s golden era. The Seals won their final PCL pennant in 1957, closing their city chapter with a title and leaving a history woven into San Francisco itself.
