Mountain-city baseball with more than a century behind the name. The Tourists became part of Asheville in 1915, with McCormick Field following in 1924. This Diamond Vault release brings Ted E. Tourist back on signature corduroy.
The Tourists name was formally adopted in 1915, following Asheville’s earlier Mountaineers identity. It connected the club with a mountain city already known for welcoming visitors. The name endured through different teams and eras, becoming part of Western North Carolina’s baseball vocabulary.
McCormick Field opened in 1924 and became the setting for generations of Asheville baseball. Its history includes visits from Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Jackie Robinson. The Vault revisits Ted E. Tourist and the club’s earlier artwork, drawing attention to a visual identity with a history of its own.
