GWAR

GWAR is the Richmond, Virginia, band that turned heavy metal into an elaborate collision of music, costumes, satire, and science-fiction theater. Their invented universe casts the musicians as alien warriors, with records such as Scumdogs of the Universe providing the soundtrack. The spectacle is central to the experience: characters, stage effects, and absurd stories make a GWAR show feel as much like performance art as a concert.
