My Morning Jacket formed in Louisville, Kentucky, with Jim James’s reverb-soaked voice at the center of a wide-ranging rock sound. Records such as It Still Moves and Z move between intimate songwriting, expansive guitars, and rhythmic experiments. The band is particularly known for its live performances, where familiar songs can open into extended passages and shared moments that make each show feel like its own event.
